I’ve always been big on keeping up with the latest power tools, especially the types used for landscaping work and other outdoor projects. As a result of this hobby, I have a keen eye on the latest and greatest chainsaws to see which ones are worth their salt, and which ones are worth overlooking. One of the most recent models I was able to check out was the Mac 738 Chainsaw from McCulloch. This saw is a compact powerhouse that’s completely capable of cutting small trees, cutting limbs off of trees and slicing up fire wood. The small size simply means that it’s lighter and easier to handle, but there is no corner cutting when it comes to the available cutting power of this chainsaw.

As I mentioned in the last section, this chainsaw is small and compact. The smaller size makes this an ideal chain saw for most of the cutting jobs that you might do around the house. You definitely don’t want a bigger saw unless you plan on tackling some big cutting jobs, like felling large trees. If those are the types of cutting you plan on doing, you might need a larger chainsaw. Ease of Use
Since the Mac 738 Chainsaw is a petrol powered model, one of the things that most concerned me was how easy it is to start. I’ve used lots of petrol powered saws in the past, and many of them were nearly impossible to start without a lot of effort. Thankfully, this McCulloch chain saw is built with an electronic ignition, so it’s never a problem to start this saw up. I don’t know about you, but I hate fighting petrol power tools that don’t want to start, so the electronic ignition is a feature that I find very attractive.
Additional Features
When I look at the extra features on a chainsaw, I typically look for safety features. As you know, a chainsaw can be very dangerous, so buying one that has safety features built in is extremely important. The Mac 738 chain saw is built with an auto inertia brake system that really keeps you safe and protected while cutting. Of course, you’ll also want to read the user’s manual that comes with this saw to stay safe while using it, but the inertia brake is a fantastic feature that makes this saw safer than other models that are currently available.
How Much Does the Mac 738 Chainsaw Cost
Let’s cut to the chase and talk about price. I love finding power tools at bargain prices, and I’m sure you do too. I looked around at the big stores and online retailers to see how much they were charging for the Mac 738. Most of the stores were charging around £150.00 for this model. While that isn’t a bad price, I still wanted to see if I could find it at a lower cost. I checked on Amazon and found it for £129.99.
